A unique experience in the Moroccan desert :
Zagora offers a different desert experience from Erg Chebbi and Erg Chggaga, but is an excellent choice for families with children or those with limited time. The dunes are accessible on a two-day excursion from Marrakech, and you can break your journey in Ouarzazate, Ait Benhaddou, or the Berber village of Telouet.
Departure from Marrakech at 9:00 am in a modern, air-conditioned minibus. Traveling through the Atlas mountains, enjoying the breathtaking view of the surrounding countryside below, we visit the Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This journey takes about 3 hours. From there, after our break, we continue to Ouarzazate for lunch. Lunch is served in a local café. After lunch, we continue along the Drâa valley to reach our destination in Zagora. After a break in Zagora, we meet our camels, which will take us on a 1.30-hour trek to our desert camp in the Nakhla dunes. Dinner under the stars in a nomadic tent camp.
After a traditional Berber breakfast, just before sunrise, we take a 1.5-hour camel ride at sunrise to explore the region further and return to Zagora on our camels. When we reach Zagora, we have the opportunity to wash up, and then we begin our journey through the Drâa valley and the Atlas mountains, with several stops for photos and lunch, until Marrakech. We typically return to Marrakech, arriving between 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm.
